Youth make a difference in media at Somerville Community Access Television. Our Next Generation Producers’ program transforms youth from being passive consumers of media to active media producers. Somerville youth can join SCATV at a reduced rate of $20 per year with need-based scholarships available.

NGP fosters creative expression and career development, uses state of the art media production facilities, and teaches collaborative video production and media literacy.

Next Generation Producers’ participants work in a variety of different production styles, including narrative, documentary and animation. Some projects are created in groups, while others are created by individual students. We value the creative process behind making videos and participants receive constructive feedback from staff and peers.

Next Generation Producers have won awards for films, including an award from the Alliance for Community Media to Next Generation Producer Anthony Soto for his documentary “In Tune with Rasta” about the Rastafari movement.

Call Gordon Nelson at 617-628-8826 or email membership[at]SCATVsomerville.org to discuss getting involved.
