About

Youth make a difference in media at Somerville Community Access Television. The program transforms teens from being passive consumers of media to active media producers.

The Next Generation Producers program fosters creative expression and career development, uses state of the art media production facilities, and teaches video production and media literacy.

All Next Generation Producers projects are conceived, designed, and executed by the teens themselves. Some projects are created in groups, while others are created by individual students. By viewing a variety of videos during class, the students learn the broad range of possibilities that exist for their own projects.

Next Generation Producers have won awards for films, including an award from the Alliance for Community Media to Next Generation Producer Anthony Soto for his documentary “In Tune with Rasta” about the Rastafari movement.
